PicoWay Laser Skin Rejuvenation

PicoWay® by Candela Medical is an advanced laser device for the treatment of acne scars, wrinkles and fine lines, skin rejuvenation, pigmentation and even hard-to-treat melasma.

The beams deliver ultra-short picosecond laser pulses that reach below the surface of the skin, creating a “photoacoustic” effect that shatters unwanted pigment and stimulates production of collagen and elastin, without breaking the outermost layer of the skin.

PicoWay laser produces less heat than traditional lasers, meaning it is especially effective in treating skin concerns for darker ethnicities, such as Asian skin types.

Key Benefits of PicoWay

  • Fades and reduces pigmentation – benign pigmented lesions including brown spots, age spots, freckles, melasma and post -inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
  • Evens skin tone and improves skin texture.
  • Reduces fine lines, wrinkles and crepiness.
  • Minimises superficial scarring.
  • Reduces pore size.
  • Increases collagen and elastin production.
Are PicoWay treatments painful?
Because of the split laser beams and ultra-short pulses (in picoseconds), the output of heat energy is less than with most lasers, so less energy is transferred to the skin. This results in less pain and  discomfort during the treatment and reduced recovery time.
How long does each PicoWay treatment take?
It takes approximately 30 minutes to complete a full-face treatment.
Are there any side effects?
This varies depending on the indication being treated.  Your skin may look blushed or red immediately following your treatment, and you may notice some small pin-point bleeding spots which usually settles within 24 to 48 hours.

Pigmentation spots may look darker or scabby following treatment and will flake off in a few days to a week, sometimes taking up to two weeks when a larger body area is treated.

How many sessions will I need?
2-6 sessions are usually recommended, spaced 4-6 weeks apart, but this depends on the indication being treated.  Your treating clinician will work with you and advise you on the best treatment plan for your concerns.
