At Cosmetic Medicine Centre, we offer our patients a wide variety of chemical peels. Various strengths and types of chemical peels are available. An in-depth consultation is necessary to ensure the appropriate peel treatment is selected for your specific concerns.
What is a chemical peel?
Chemical peels are treatments designed to reduce the appearance of irregularities on the skin’s surface and reveal a smooth, revitalized texture through regenerating and resurfacing the skin.
They work by using high strength medical grade skin care ingredients that penetrate the top layers of the skin. This helps to stimulate collagen remodelling, reduce tonal discolouration, improve skin texture and hydration, reduce congestion, and improve the overall appearance of the skin.
An active solution is applied to the skin to accelerate the skin’s natural exfoliation in a controlled way, so that new skin can grow in its place.
We offer premium Dermaceutic and Synergie Professional peels at Cosmetic Medicine Centre.

FAQs About Chemical Peels
How Many Chemical Peels Will I Need?
Your clinician will advise you at the time of consultation, but for superficial chemical peels, usually a minimum of 3 peel treatments, 2-4 weeks apart is recommended. However, this will depend on the peel solution that is being used and if you are having any other skin or laser treatments. For deeper penetrating peels, it is most likely to only require 1-2 peel treatments.
Can I Do Skin Peels In Conjunction With Other Treatments?
Yes, peels can be done in conjunction with other treatments, including IntelliTONE™ Genesis Toning laser, BBL Skin Rejuvenation and Xen LED. Your clinician will develop a personalised treatment plan for you.
Will My Chemical Peel Hurt?
It is common to feel a mild tingling or burning sensation in the skin, that typically lasts for a few minutes during the peel application. A hand-held fan helps to ease this discomfort,
Am I A Suitable Candidate?
Chemical Peels can be tailored to most skin types and conditions; however, they are not recommended for anyone that:
- is pregnant or breast feeding
- has had prior reaction to chemical peels
- has had recent radiation treatment for cancer
- is sunburnt or has had significant sun exposure in the days prior to treatment
- has used isotretinoin (Roaccutane/Oratane) within the past 6 months
How Do I Prepare for a Chemical Peel?
Prior to chemical peels, it is important to prepare your skin with active ingredients to maximise results and ensure a safe and effective treatment. Your clinician will discuss this with you at the time of consultation. Daily use of solar protection is vital.
What Happens After a Chemical Peel?
Recovery will vary depending on which chemical peel solution is applied to the skin and how well the skin is prepped prior to chemical peel treatment. Most superficial peels are well tolerated, with most patients experiencing some mild redness with or without mild micro-flaking to some areas on the skin. For peels that are penetrating to a superficial – medium depth in the skin, using multiple layers of high strength peel solution, recovery can include up to 7-10 days of dryness, flaking and peeling of the skin.
