The pulsed dye laser is the gold standard for vascular lasers, and recent advances in skin cooling have meant that treatments with this laser are now even more comfortable.
Whether the problem is one of dilated “broken capillaries” due to sun damage or rosacea, a birthmark such as a port wine stain or red, chicken-skin of the neck (poikiloderma of Civatte), the pulsed dye laser is the laser of choice for these conditions.
Temporary blushing subsides quickly from the face after treatment but may take a couple of days on the neck. For some individuals, there may be some temporary swelling. Port wine stains will appear darker for about a week before lightening.
Further treatments may be done after 6 weeks.
