Certain products can be used to induce collagen growth in the skin and deeper tissues to alleviate sunken facial contours.
Depending on the degree of correction required, at least two or more treatments will be required.
Anaesthetic cream is usually applied prior to treatment. Injections usually take about 15 minutes and then a short period of massaging occurs.
Massage of the treated areas should be performed each day for a couple of weeks afterwards to encourage smooth collagen growth. Further sessions of injecting can be scheduled six weeks later as collagen growth usually occurs over this period of time.
As well as improving facial contours, the skin texture also tends to improve in the treated areas.
Results are quite long term with most patients choosing to have a single maintenance treatment 18 months to 2 years after their initial series of treatments.
This treatment is best suited to broad areas rather than targeted spots. For areas such as around eyes and mouth, direct filling is preferred.
