The treatment for visibly better skin

A clear and radiant complexion with even skin tone is a timeless marker of beauty and attraction, no matter our age. Plump, healthy skin reflects light more uniformly, resulting in a homogeneous, more even complexion that appears to glow.

Unfortunately, it’s typically our skin that is the first to outwardly declare the signs of ageing, usually manifesting in discolouration, textural irregularities and laxity. However, age spots, pigmentation and wrinkles don’t have to be skin gripes we simply have to “put up with”.

Modern skin resurfacing treatments have become a major player in breathing new life into sallow, tired-looking and sun-damaged skin, and the star of this exciting field is fractional skin resurfacing.

Fractional skin resurfacing can improve the appearance of wrinkles, acne scars, superficial skin lesions, textural irregularities and skin laxity. It differs from traditional laser skin resurfacing in that it reaches deeper layers of the skin but covers the skin area in patterns of micro-dots instead of a whole area, significantly reducing the downtime and side effects associated with these treatments.

One of the fractional skin technologies used at The Cosmetic Medicine Centre is the Matrix RF, which uses non-laser bipolar radiofrequency.

The Matrix RF delivers radiofrequency energy in tiny spots. The energy is delivered in a matrix pattern deep within the skin, which increases levels of beneficial collagen and new healthy skin cells.

The radiofrequency energy induces a skin injury on these ‘matrix spots’, which prompts the skin’s natural process for creating new, healthier tissue to replace the damaged cells. This allows the treatment to achieve effective textural improvement to the skin – with significantly less recovery time than traditional full ablative laser resurfacing.

‘The intact skin around the “spots” initiates a rapid healing process,’ says Dr Mary Dingley. ‘It’s an effective treatment for smoothing fine lines, promoting textural changes within the skin, and reducing the appearance of sun damage and acne scarring.’

Results of the treatment include increased levels of collagen and new healthy skin cells. Mild to moderate wrinkles and superficial skin discolourations are reduced and the skin’s texture becomes smoother and more elastic in quality.

Matrix RF treatment can be customised to suit your unique skin type and concerns, unveiling fresher, smoother and more even-toned skin in a fraction of the time compared with traditional skin resurfacing treatments.
