Lax Skin

Home / Conditions / Lax Skin

As we age the skin loses its elasticity. The effect of environmental stress (sun exposure, diet and pollution to name a few) can cause a breakdown in the collagen fibers of the skin causing laxity. As we get older, we also tend to lose volume in certain parts of the face, allowing certain areas, such as cheeks, to droop.

This sagging on the face can present as loose skin of the jowls, bags under the eyes, lines and wrinkles.

In many cases, lasers, radio frequency treatment or ultrasound treatment may assist in helping to tighten the skin. This may also be combined with volume replacement techniques.
